With each project we seek to maximize plan and form opportunities revealed during programming and site analysis with the objective of blending together aesthetic response and functional requirements. Our aim is to create work that reflects clarity, simplicity, and elegance while supporting the core values and mission of each client. Thus our work is not a consistent stylistic response to a given project, instead it recognizes the fluid process involved in the creation of timeless architecture and is a direct response to the unique qualities of it's environment, community, and function.
The inspiration for each of our projects originates from the dynamic interaction with the people we design buildings with. Our work reflects the shared wisdom, ideas, and talents of the client and design team. We seek to synthesize the needs and desires of the project through open and poetic thinking to arrive at innovative solutions. We work carefully with our clients to understand and then translate their visions into innovative spaces and form shaped by light, materials, and the environment.
We are fully committed to reducing the impact of construction and building operations on the environment and seek to maximize passive sustainability strategies in our design response. We know that the real benefit of sustainable design extends beyond lower utility bills to the comfort and productivity of the building occupants. While we do explore sustainable features in the form and systems of a building, it is our belief that the most sustainable element of any project is flexibility and timeless design. Schreiber Starling & Lane Architects is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and has LEED Accredited Professionals on staff.
As we begin the design process the canvas is thrillingly empty. The goal? A solution that grows from a solid conceptual base expressing an overall idea that serves as its glue. It must be elegant and precise, even poetic...and it must be enduring.
